After our lovely cards were open this morning we went off to Basel on a double decker train which was very swish. When we arrived in Basel we were disappointed not to get our passports stamped, not even a soul in customs. We then went for a wander around the town and wondered why it was so quiet - it turns out that today is Swiss National Day! We had a look around a couple of churches today, the first Basel Munster and the lovely cloisters, then on to the Elizabethan Church - named after Elisabeth not of the era. After a few very hot (35c) hours we decided to have a wander along the Rhine only to see half the city diving in and floating down river. A lovely city - can't help thinking you wouldn't see the population of Glasgow floating down the Clyde on a bank holiday...
